Winter-Themed Math Resources for the Classroom

The winter season doesn’t only bring chilly air and icicles; it also brings classroom activities that are just snow-much fun! You can celebrate the season with winter-themed resources that are perfect for learning new skills and practicing old ones.

This time of year is very big on multiplication standards, and we all know it takes practice, practice, practice for many kiddos to really pin down those skills. So, I have created a couple of activities that are perfect for practicing simple multiplication, arrays, and multiplication word problems. All with an included touch of winter fun! You can find these resources below!

Winter Multiplication with Arrays Task Cards

Students will get to practice their fact fluency on factors 1-12 with this modifiable activity. They are able to use the 32 task cards, and worksheets provided to create their multiplication problems and solve them. You will be able to use the 6 answer keys included to check and have as a reference for group participation.

This activity is perfect for centers, small groups, teams, or large groups. Luckily, there is also a slideshow presentation included for you to use for large group tasks as well! It’s truly perfect for modifying to whatever fits your class level and schedule. Cut the time of the game by choosing fewer task cards, such as a group of 16 or 12. Doing this can turn this activity into a fun exit ticket game or homework too. So many options!

Another reason I love this resource is for the extended use and low prep! Just by simply printing the task cards on cardstock and laminating them, you have them at your fingertips for years to come! You can even laminate or slide the worksheets into dry-erase pockets for even less prep time. Download this resource for your classroom here!

Third Grade Winter Multiplication Word Problems

A batch of good word problems is so hard to find! Especially themed and assigned to the correct standard. Look no further; here is your answer! This set of word problems helps to take your student’s minds off the work and be engaged in learning all 4 operations! There are 24 multi-step word problems for your kiddos to solve and master subtraction, addition, division, and multiplication.

You will be able to modify this activity as well by deciding how many word problems you have time for and choosing the provided answer sheet – there are 3 answer page options. Use this material in small groups, team time, or large groups! You can easily give individual word problems as exit tickets or make a fun whole-class game with the provided slideshow! I personally liked to use the slideshow by giving students dry-erase boards to write their answers on and creating a small game out of it! There are endless options for how you can keep your students engaged and learning while having fun!

Place Value Elves – Students practice with base-ten blocks and create their own funky elves.

Christmas Measuring Center – Students practice their measuring skills with Christmas flare.

Christmas Ornament Arrays – Students practice multiplication arrays with ornamental task cards.
