Multiplication With Equal Groups | 3.OA.1 Centers

Centers by Standard was designed to give your students extra targeted practice with specific skills.

This resource contains 3 centers that align to the following standard:

3.OA.1 – Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 5 × 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7 objects each.

Center 1: Array Puzzles

Included are 3-piece puzzles for all multiplication equations with factors 1-12. Piece one shows the equation, piece two shows the array, and piece three shows the product.

Center 2: Equal Groups

Students will pick a multiplication equation from the pile, then will model the equation by creating equal groups on their mat. Then, they will write the equation on their recording sheet. All multiplication equations with factors 1-12 are included and you may choose to put all or some in your center.

Center 3: Task Cards

Students are given 24 task cards and an answer sheet. Students will be asked to write a multiplication equation that matches a picture, to draw a picture based on an equation, to pick which equal groups picture matches an equation, and answer a multiplication word problem. Answer key is provided – keep for yourself, or include in the center so your students can self-check their work.
