Fourth Grade Fractions and Decimals

Introducing fractions and decimals can be an easy unit if you let it! I know it can be challenging to some students, and a few may even have the toughest time understanding the concept in general. So, because of that, I have found the saying “practice makes perfect” applies to this unit more than any other!

When students get to see and interpret multiple levels of fraction and decimal problems, it gives them the opportunity to rehearse the steps over and over until something just clicks. Having the visual aids and writing the process out seems to give them the exposure they need to break into the fluency of fractions and decimals and be confident in this unit.

I have made it my mission to make the best worksheets with multiple practice opportunities to help students get through this unit easily. When I used these math skill checks in my own room they became essential to my class’ success. (Picture every student’s little light bulb above their head blinking and then all turning on around the same time. Teacher happy dance!)

Here are a few reasons why I think they may help you, too.

Well, first… they’re bundled. So, that’s a huge plus! There are 72 pages of sweet, bundled practice between identifying equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, adding/subtracting/multiplying fractions, working with fractions as decimals, and comparing decimals. Woah!

Plus, there is no cluttering clipart or frilly fonts that distract students. *Don’t get me wrong* I love my adorable clipart pieces and fonts that satisfyingly blend together, but when I have little Suzie coloring the pictures and practicing calligraphy instead of fractions, it becomes a distraction. There’s always time for those fun-themed pages and activities after the practice! These worksheets are just designed to be clean and clear for all little minds to be focused.

They are also super easy on your teacher schedule! I know how planning period can be filled with extra duties or dealing with the many other aspects of teacher life. So, thankfully these print-and-go worksheets make for an easy lesson plan filled with actual work. If you’re looking for something different, then no worries! They can be used as google slides, too! Queue another teacher happy dance.

Here’s what you’ll find!

If you decide to grab this bundle then you’ll have two new things. One, a new friend! (Hi!) Two, multiple ways for your students to show their knowledge for each skill. We all know not every child will show their knowledge in the same way. Our kiddos are unique and the way they learn, retain information, and express their math thought processes are going to be unique, too. The best way to support them in whichever way they learn is to provide them with an ample amount of opportunities fit for their learning process. Differentiation is key!

Each skill will have multiple types of practice sheets for variety and mastery. Some may require using visuals with number lines, models, or fraction bars. While others may include words problems and simple number problems.

It is absolutely impossible for me to be able to list everything that’s included in this bundle here! I mean, it is possible, but the list would be quite long! No worries! I’ll post the link for you here! On this page, you can find everything that is included in this bundle and once again have your teacher happy dance! Woohoo!
