The True Story of the Three Little Pigs 5-Day Book Study [for big kids]

Even though this book study is centered around a book geared for younger students, this resource will challenge your bigger kids with some deeper thinking and more challenging tasks!

Day One

✓ Your students will record their before schema of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, then you will read it aloud to your students! They will record their ‘after’ schema. Then, they will work to put the events of the story into chronological order and write a summary of the text using transition words.

Day Two

✓ Your students will learn about Point of View (First and Third person). They will review pronouns, and use text evidence to prove which point of view the story is told from.

Day Three

✓ Your students will use text evidence to determine character traits of Alexander T. Wolf. They will fill out a fun flip-book that in their file folder!

Day Four

✓ Your students will determine if they DO or DO NOT believe the wolf’s side of the story. They will come up with reasons and support in a graphic organizer. Then, they will write a friendly letter to the wolf. In doing this, they will also practice writing addresses on an envelope pocket in their file folder.

Day Five

✓ Your students will compare and contrast The True Story of the Three Little Pigs with the original version of The Three Little Pigs.
