Description

‘Centers by Standard’ was designed to give your students extra targeted practice with place value and understanding tens and ones. Model how to complete each center with your students, and then allow them to complete independently, in small groups, or in a guided setting with you!

Included in this resource:

Three centers that will give your students extra practice with CCSS 1.NBT.2.

Center One:

Tens and Ones Puzzles

Twenty 2-piece puzzles are included. Numbers range from single digit to double digit. An additional 4 3-digit puzzles are also included! Puzzles show a number in number form and in base ten blocks.

Center Two:

Spin and Cover

Students will use a paperclip and a pencil to create a spinner on their spinner mat. They will spin a digit for the tens and a digit for the ones to make a number. They will cover the number using a counter (paper, base ten cube etc). Students will try to get 4-in-a-row. This station is also fun for partners – who can get 4-in-a-row first?

Center Three:

Task Cards

Students are given 24 task cards and an answer sheet. They will need to name a number when given the tens and ones, name a number when shown base ten cubes, name the number of tens and ones when given a number, and draw base ten cubes to represent a given number.
