Description
Centers by Standard was designed to give your students extra targeted practice with specific skills.
This resource contains 3 centers that align to the following standard:
3.NBT.1 – Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100
Center 1: Mystery Pictures
Included are 3 different mystery pictures – include all three in your center, or just pick one at a time! To prep, print Mystery Picture Mat and puzzle pieces on the same color paper, one color for each mystery picture. This will help keep track of which pieces go with which mat. Students will look at the mat, read the prompts in each square, and find the piece that answer each prompt to place on the mat. As they place the answers on the mat, a picture will form! Each mystery picture includes 20 pieces that will ask your students to round to the nearest 10 or 100.
Center 2: Rounding Puzzles
Included are 40 3-piece puzzles. 20 puzzles focus on rounding to the nearest 10, and 20 puzzles focus on rounding to the nearest 100. Each puzzle provides the original number, the rounded number, and a pictorial representation of the number on the number line.
Center 3: Task Cards
Students are given 24 task cards and an answer sheet. Students will round to an underlined place value, round to the nearest 10, round to the nearest 100, and name 2 numbers that would round to a given number. Answer key is provided – keep for yourself, or include in the center so your students can self-check their work.
