Description
‘Centers by Standard’ was designed to give your students extra targeted practice with counting through 120. Model how to complete each center with your students, and then allow them to complete independently, in small groups, or in a guided setting with you!
Included in this resource:
Three centers that will give your students extra practice with CCSS 1.NBT.1.
Center One:
Big 120 Chart
Numbers 1-120 are provided. Each number is in a 3” by 3” square, and color coded with all the numbers ending in 1 in red, 2 in orange etc. An 8.5×11 copy of the 120 chart is provided for scaffolding. Here are a few things that your students can do with this center:
• Make a large 120 chart
• Make a large 100 chart to differentiate.
• Find all the numbers ending in 1 and put in order, ending in 2 and put in order, etc.
• Count by 2s, by 5s, by 10s.
• Provide a sand timer and see if they can beat the timer when putting together their big 120 chart.
Center Two:
Dot-Number Match
Students will count the dots on each card and find the matching standard form number card. They will try to make as many matches as they can! Dot/Standard form cards both come in 1-50. Dot cards show dots in groups of 10 to mimic a group of ones equaling a ten. Students could also work in pairs to find the most correct matches in a given amount of time.
Center Three:
Task Cards
Students are given 24 task cards and an answer sheet. They will need to name a number that comes next, write the standard form of a number after counting dots, write the standard form of the number when given the word-form, and name a number that comes before. Answer key is provided.
