More Time TeachingLess Time Managing Behavior

If you’re tired of correcting the same behaviors over and over again, it’s time to try something different!
“To get what you’ve never had, you have to do what you’ve never done!”
Be proactive in managing the behaviors in your classroom with Readers With Character.
This curriculum is for you if…
- You wish you could just get through a small group lesson without being interrupted, and without having to remind students of the expectations.
- You feel like a broken record, reminding your students of the same rules over and over again.
- You are burnt out… not because of the curriculum, but because your students’ behavior has made it difficult to actually teach anything at all.
- You have tried to explicitly teach lessons to your students how to be the good people you know they can be, but everything you try takes up too much of your academic time and you end up abandoning it.

Why You’ll Love This Curriculum
Check out just a few of my favorite elements of this curriculum that I designed with the busy teacher in mind!
15-Minute Lessons
Each lesson is designed to only take up fifteen minutes of your day, allowing you time for all your other content areas.
Detailed Lesson Plans
Detailed lesson plans take the guesswork out – guiding questions, prompts, and directions make this part of your day already planned. Plus, a sub can easily follow, too!
Weekly Focus
Each week has one character or social skill focus, giving your students plenty of time to digest and internalize the message.
Multiple Learning Styles
Interpersonal, intrapersonal, physical, and visual learners will all benefit from the variety of lessons in each weekly unit.
Mentor Text
Each weekly unit begins with a carefully selected picture book that acts as a mentor text for your students to refer back to.
Consistency
Each week follows the same daily routine. This helps you save time with your planning, and it helps your students know what to expect.
Home Connection
Each weekly unit includes a Home Connection that explains your focus and encourages families to continue the conversations at home.
Student Accountability
Students will record thoughts and feelings in their student journal. Student journals provide a spot to answer questions using words or pictures.
Anchor Charts
Most units include an 8.5×11 anchor chart that explicitly reminds students of expectations. Hang them on a bulletin board so your students can reference them all year long.
“My only regret is not purchasing it sooner!”
“I don’t know where to begin… This has been an invaluable resource for me as I rebuild classroom community mid year…. My third graders are applying these character lessons and are taking them to heart. My only regret is not purchasing it sooner!”
Cassandra, Third Grade Teacher
“[This curriculum has] changed the climate of my classroom!”
“I honestly can’t say enough praise about this resource. It has changed the climate of my classroom!”
Sarah, Elementary Teacher
How THIS Curriculum is Different Than The Others
Each weekly unit focuses on ONE Social Emotional or Character ‘goal’ so your students have time to digest and understand the message. “The others” try to cram too much into a lesson, distracting your students from truly understanding the importance of the message. Each weekly focus is based upon one mentor text that is read on Monday, giving students a frame of reference and schema about the focus of the week in a kid-friendly and relatable way. “The others” try to tell students how to be a good person instead of showing them! Each daily lesson is designed to take only 15 minutes of class time, making it manageable for the busy classroom teacher. “The others” think that classroom teachers have 30-45 minutes per day to spend on character education – HA!

“I love the connection to literature!”
“I cannot possibly sing enough praise for this resource! I LOVE the connection to literature, and my students LOVE the journals, videos, and activities that accompany each focus. I have just started implementing lessons at this point in the year, and I truly cannot wait to start from the beginning next year! Thank you, thank you for a wonderful and valuable resource.”
Hannah, Elementary Teacher
“The parents told me they love it too!”
I bought this a few weeks ago and have used the first two weeks in my classroom. I love it, the kids love it, and best of all at Open House this last week the parents told me they love it too! I can’t wait to use the rest of it! Character Ed is a big part of our daily routine and this fits in perfectly, and is so well laid out! Thank you!
