Prefix and Suffix Unit – 36 Days of Mini-Lessons!

Take a little time each day to teach your students about prefixes and suffixes! My students began to look forward to our daily prefix/suffix time, so I have revised the unit and put together all of my resources for you to use with your students as well!

This resource is intended for use with Google Drive/Microsoft OneDrive classrooms. Haven’t used a Google Drive/Microsoft OneDrive activity before? Included in your purchase are easy to follow instructions for seamless setup in your classroom. GoogleDrive and Microsoft OneDrive resources can be accessed from laptops, computers, Chromebooks, iPads, and tablets with internet access. Don’t have 1:1 devices? Set up this activity in a center or assign to students as extra practice from home!

Mini-Lesson Guide: I taught this unit to my students and used 15 minutes for 36 school days. My students loved it, so I included my pacing and routine to use as a guide for teaching!

Digital Student Journal: These journals are a great spot for your students to keep track of their learning via Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. They will record the definition/meaning, an example, a sentence using that example word, and an use the drawing tools to illustrate their example word! Thirty-six different prefixes and suffixes will be taught in this unit, and there is a half-page for each to go into the student journal!

Teacher Guide: Keep track of what you have taught. In addition, meanings and examples for each prefix/suffix included.

Anchor Charts: Colorful anchor charts to print and refer to when teaching.

Bookmarks: Give a bookmark to your students for them to track the prefixes/suffixes they have found in their daily reading.

Assessment: An 18-point digital assessment including matching prefixes and suffixes with their meaning and coming up with example words/sentences that include common prefixes and suffixes!
